Astoria, Oregon, USA
The city of Astoria lies on the south side of the Columbia River, near the river mouth. The river forms the border between the states of Oregon and Washington. The city was founded in 1811, based on fur trading. The bridge across the Columbia River was completed in 1966. Not far to the southwest of Astoria is the recreated Fort Clatsop, where the Lewis and Clark Expedition spent the winter of 1805-1806.
