Birds around the house

Here are photos of a selection of birds observed either in or around our yard. The basic criterion for selecting these photos is that the bird was observed either in the yard, such as at the birdbath, or it was seen or heard from the yard. This includes birds observed in the immediate hillsides, within viewing or hearing distance of the house.

The purpose is to give an indication of the wide variety of birds at this location. No guarantee is given that the photos are wonderful, especially as many of them were taken at the birdbath, through a window with scattered sunlight and reflections that get in the way. But little by little, improved photos will appear here.
