Hillside walk, 03 September 2018

This week the saw toothed goldenbush (Hazardia squarrosa) is truly at its peak, with multiple specimens on the mid north hillside in bloom. A specimen on the upper north hillside is loaded with buds, so we can look forward to a neat progression of flowers.

Narrow leafed milkweed (Asclepias fascicularis) on the upper north hillside continues it run of full bloom, with flowers on at least half a dozen plants.

In Canyon 8 the California brickellbush (Brickellia californica) is very much at its peak on several plants spread along the upper part of the canyon.

The humble dodder (Cuscuta sp.) has virtually all of its foliage and stems withered now, but it's flowering profusely in many places.

Walking on the hillsides today was so easy compared to many occasions. The grass has withered and my own tracks are well visible in many places.
