Hillside walk, 27 November 2017
Today was a pleasant day on the hillside. Following 0.6 mm of rain overnight, the air was cool and the sun was warm. What more could one want?
With this mild weather, it wasn't too surprising to find a few fresh flowers of four o'clock (Mirabilis laevis var. crassifolia) at the mouth of Canyon 8 and in upper Canyon 3B.
As was the case last week, California sagebrush (Artemisia californica) continues in full bloom, as does the chaparral currant (Ribes malvaceum).
This week lower Canyon 3 has some flowers and a good sprinkling of buds on the mulefat (Baccharis salicifolia). These are all male flowers.
