Hillside walk, 07 September 2015
Another very hot day.
As was the case last week, saw toothed goldenbush (Hazardia squarrosa) continues its blooming as a high spot of the hot summer period. Less conspicuous is the California mugwort (Artemisia californica), at its peak on the lower north hillside.
Another highlight this week is a single bloom on the mesa cactus (Opuntia x vaseyi).
It's interesting how the bush monkeyflower (Diplacus longiflorus) manages to produce fresh blooms each week in lower Canyon 2.
Everywhere it's tinder dry..
