Hillside walk, 18 August 2014
Saw toothed goldenbush (Hazardia squarrosa) is at last in full bloom. Previously just one plant was blooming, on the west hillside in Canyon 4. Flowers on this species are indicative of the peak of summer.
This week sees coyote brush (Baccharis pilularis) beginning to bloom at the bottom of the north hillside. It's the only plant of its species on these hillsides. I continue to wonder whether it's natural here — it could be — or whether its an escapee from someone's garden.
The amazing ongoing flowering of California primrose (Eulobus californicus) continues.
