Hillside walk, 11 May 2014

The spring bloom continues to wane. For example, California bluebells (Phacelia minor) is now just remnants, and generally smaller flowers than previously. The whispering bells (Emmenanthe peduliflora var. peduliflora) is almost finished.

On the other hand, the common muilla (Muilla maritima) is more abundant, as is golden stars (Bloomeria crocea). And southern honesuckle (Lonicera subspicata var. denudata) is at its peak on the north hillside.

Most spectacular of all this week is the sticky monkeyflower (Mimulus aurantiacus), which continues at its peak, as it was last week.
