Hillside walk, 24 February 2014
This week I found only the one blooming wishbone bush (Mirabilis laevis var. crassifolia), and its flowers had already withered earlier in the day. The wild cucumber (Marah macrocarpa) has almost finished flowering.
But others progress with their flowers. Notable is elderberry (Sambucus mexicana), which is now blooming in multiple places. The skunkbrush (Rhus armomatica) is beginning to bloom, although as yet it has no leaves. It warrants careful watching because last year the bloom lasted little more than a week.
