Hillside walk, 23 September 2013
This week I reverted to my old route across the west hillside. For several weeks I've been skirting around the deep canyons in case of bears. There is no evidence anywhere of bears.
The flowers are similar to last week, perhaps a few less. However, with the cooler weather, telegraph weed (Heterotheca grandiflora) is blooming again, both at the top of the north hillside and along the upper parts of Lida Street. Some of the dodder flowers (Cuscuta sp.) look fresh. The Hazardia squarrosa continues to bloom. And, of course, California buckwehat (Eriogonum fasciculatum) continues as a mainstay of summer.
