Hillside walk, 15 November 2017
This was an afternoon walk, with the expectation that some flowers would have withered since the morning. Nevertheless, Canyon 3B had blooms of four o'clock (Mirabilis laevis var. crassifolia) that were fully open and fresh. That was especially surprising because it was a warm afternoon.
The massed flowers of chaparral currant (Ribes malvaceum) continue to be as beautiful as ever.
Mulefat (Baccharis salicifolia) was represented by a single male flower on a specimen in the Lida Street horseshoe.
Overall the number of flowering species was not great. It's typical late season, waiting for the winter rain.
