Hillside walk, 17 July 2017

These weekly walks are generally in the morning, but this week's walk was unusual in being a later afternoon event. The question arising from this is whether there are flowers that have completely disappeared by this time of the afternoon. One that comes immediately to mind is the California primrose (Eulobus californicus), which generally is curling up by 9 a.m. This afternoon I could find no trace of it at all, even though last week it was present in considerable numbers (in the early morning).

The surprise this week was to find twiggy wreath plant (Stephanomeria sp.), just one tiny plant with three flowers at the very top of the north hillside.
