Hillside walk, 30 January 2017

It's now a whole week since the rain stopped, and temperatures are rising. As yet the number of flowering species remains low although some species are in heavy bud, such as the hoaryleaf ceanothus (Ceanothus crassifolia var. planus) and wishbone bush (Mirabilis laevis var. crassifolia). In Canyon 4, one of the scrub oak (Quercus sp.) is in the process of bursting into flower, — I counted it as flowering although it may not be quite fully out yet.
