Hillside walk, 28 November 2016
Small amounts of rain continued in the past few days, making for a delightful wintry scene on the hillside, with promise of seasonal things to come. In many otherwise bare patches of ground, especially on the north hillside, a mat of seedlings is now present. The seedlings are still very small. Here we have next year's crop of mustard and other things. I'm now removing small quantities of Russian thistle as I go along.
Nevertheless, the amount of rainfall has not been great. While liverworts, lichens, and mosses are beautifully green, they are not as extensive as they would be after a big rain.
The amount of actually flowers on the hillside continues to be small, as low as I've seen it at this time of year.
