Hillside walk, 07 June 2016

What a joy to see sacapellote (Acourtia microcephala) in full bloom, and in a number of places such as the mid north hillside, the west hillside, and the south hillside. It's always a bright start to the summer season. Similarly, it's the season for flowering yucca (Hesperoyucca whipplei), which continues to bloom across the north and west hillsides.

Bearing in mind the hot weather on several days of the past week, it was surprising to find a plant of four o'clock (Mirabilis laevis var. carssifolia) with a number of fresh blooms in a shaded spot on the upper north hillside. It was afternoon, which is another reason to be surprised at fresh flowers of this species.
