Hillside walk, 11 April 2016

The peak of spring bloom has passed, largely because early spring flowers are no longer overlapping to the extent they were with later spring flowers. But the showing remains good and strong.

It's really nice to see the cactus in bloom, mesa prickly pear (Opuntia x vaseyi) in the Lida Street horseshoe bend, and valley cholla (Cylindropuntia californica) on the south hillside. On the north hillside, one large non-native mission prickly pear (Opuntia ficus-indica) has an amazing number of blooms.
