Hillside walk, 01 July 2013

The season continues, it's getting hotter and drier.

New this week is the first stephanomeria bloom, a plant growing high on the north hillside in the shade of a small scrub oak.

The last sticky monkeyflower of the year was observed this week.

Unusually, high on the north hillside is a chamise that is putting out new blooms, mostly bud at this stage, but with a few flowers open.

The elderberry along Lida Street are now heavy with fruit, although a few blooms persist on one or two trees.
