Hillside walks, 23 and 25 March 2013

Although the north hillside is becoming very dry, new discoveries are occurring on the west hillside. Of note is finding miner's lettuce, goldenback fern, and liverworts in the lower parts of the canyon west of our house. (In the previous week these were found in a different, higher part of the west hillside.) Along the higher parts of Lida Street, holly leaf cherry this week began to bloom.

It's worth noting that the record being generated from these walks applies to the whole hillside area as a combined unit, and this makes the duration of blooming look longer in the spreadsheet than it really is at any one location. For example, wild cucumber is no longer blooming on the north hillside, but is still blooming on the west hillside.
